This of course being the ground breaking Avengers movie which no fan would have ever though would make it to the big screen. Because not only was an all star line up not common in Hollywood at the time but it was also a big risk taker. Primarily, because the success of this film would determine whether or not Marvel would continue their movement. So on some levels it would be the focal point of years to come and also be a turning point leading to many roads.
This is why I feel this genre really seemed to prematurely peak at this point and pave the way for unorthodox change. Just look at how much it's already taking over TV and essentially saturating the market with a format that not only killed off NBC's show Heroes once but twice. But to be fair, I am the type of person who cringes at the thought of a super hero calling themselves a hero. Because it's self explanatory, redundant and should be seen as a red flag when it's in the dialog. Excuse me for feeling like super hero's shouldn't speak the way a fan would at comic con.
Because I don't recall any one in real time who enjoyed the Batman v Superman film. Which in my opinion was nothing more then an ego trip gone wrong. Simple because it could have single handedly revitalized this industry by capitalizing on great story arcs that long deserved to be on the big screen. Only to instead become the catalyst in why watching these titles aren't as cool as they used to be. But I guess that's what you get when a market essentially becomes more about making money then making good quality that guarantees money.
This disappointment sure ruined my child hood and chances are I will probably never live to see it done the right way. If the super hero genre even sticks around to that point...
But there are my reasons why the Super Hero Genre Seems To Be Losing Its Luster. If you have any you would like to share with me then feel free to leave a comment below.
