But to be fair, I never would have bet for the console business to hit a rut so bad that it would place gaming back into the hands of prehistoric tech. Because it was announced not so long ago that Sony's Playstation Now service is now desktop friendly. Which means it'ss safe to say that the console era is now officially coming to an end. I always speculated that Sony was making an attempt to create the Netflix version of gaming. Seeing how the PS4 was its first gen hardware that was simplified for the sake of game play.
Black Friday is a great example of this even though its something that is frowned upon these days. It still shows the difference from having something at your finger tips ever waking minute of the day vs going out to hunt for the item you just need in your hands. There's a reason Pokemon Go worked as well as it did and it was the hunt. It is apart of the gaming experience and even though reducing the future to modern applications is probably the safest way to go, it isn't innovating. But as history shows this is what happens when something good becomes all about money.
Makes me wonder if Nintendo is gonna use some of that Pokemon Go money to do this with the new official release of the mini N.E.S. After all, it could be the console market's last hope.
